India has once again violated the Indus Basin Treaty by constructing six new dams on the Indus River. Pakistan has informed the Indian Indus Water Commission of its concerns. According to sources, six controversial projects have been constructed by India on the Indus River. Sources said that the Indian Indus Water Commission has been informed by Pakistan on which the technical delegation of Indian Indus Water Commissioner is likely to visit Pakistan for its annual meeting in March next year.
According to sources, India is constructing a 12-megawatt hydroelectric project on the Indus River and a 19-megawatt Darbak Shivak hydropower project. Sources said that India has also announced construction of 24 MW Nemo Shilling project, 25 MW Kargil Henderman project, 19 MW Mangdam Sangra project and 18.5 MW Snook hydropower project. In this regard, the Indian Indus Water Commissioner has contacted his Indian counterpart in writing.
