TikTok has orchestrated some of its most popular viral songs and will release them on CD and vinyl this summer, the site revealed on Friday.
With this deal with Warner Classics, TikTok is making its first foray into the conventional music business and releasing 18 songs on streaming services and physical CDs at the same time.
Alice Merton's "No Roots," which has been included in 1.3 million videos, will be familiar to everyone who has spent any time on the video streaming site.
"Pieces" by Danilo Stankovic, which has been utilised by over 3.4 million TikTok users, is a lovely piano tune.
Babelsberg Film Orchestra in Germany has reworked each one.
In a statement, Merton remarked, "Listening to No Roots in a fresh musical environment is invigorating." My enthusiasm for the endeavour is palpable, and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.
For example, "Monkeys Spinnin' Monkeys," a lively flute-filled melody, serves as the ideal soundtrack for many light-hearted YouTube videos (27.1 million and counting).
When a Scottish postman, Nathan Evans, videotaped himself singing a 19th century folk tune on TikTok in early 2021, it sparked a sea shanty frenzy.
Brian May of Queen and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the seasoned composer, both recorded versions of the infectious song that quickly travelled around the globe.
From Friday, TikTok users may utilise 30-second excerpts of the 18 upgraded tracks.
"TikTok Classics: Memes and Viral Hits" is set to be published in full in August, with six full-length tracks being released on July 8 across streaming platforms.
